Hi,

I just wanted to pass on my thanks for a great product, which I am just about to re-order.

I have been trying for some while to find a slug that would shoot well from my Brocock Sniper XR magnum ( FAC ).

It has a choked Lothar Walther barrel as you may know, and I tried many different makes, FX Hybrid, Zan, JSB, H&N

and lots of different weights. I finally remembered I’d had some slugs from you in the past, and then ordered the sample

pack of Pro Hunter slugs in .25 calibre.

Well the 30 grain High Impact slugs are amazing and are grouping better than my preferred pellet, the JSB 33.49 grain Jumbo Monsters.

Pic attached below. 5 shot group at 60 yards. I added 1 drop of pellet lube to the tin.

Please feel free to use the pic on your website if that helps.

Very happy with these slugs, thank you : )

Best wishes,

Hi Yvonne,

I've just received my second batch of 100 Premium HI slugs from yourselves and I was very pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary sample of both the 22 & 22.8 grain .22 slugs.

I have been testing various slugs recently to find one suitable for my rifle, (Mk 1 Gamo Phox PCP) and as you will see from the attached pictures of the grouping tests in did, your Premium HI slugs suit my barrel extremely well, coming in a very tight 2nd place to only the H&N 21g in 5.53. Centre to centre measurements were 12mm for the H&N and 15mm for your slugs at 25m. This was with a dirty barrel as yours were the last round of test shots, so the barrel had had at least 40 slugs through it before I loosed your slugs, which is only more impressive in my opinion. The slugs load well into the magazine and I've found that a gentle push with a pencil will seat them securely and ease with chambering a round. Being used in a sub 12ft-lb rifle, used solely for pest control on and around a farm I have permission for, I appreciate the lighter weight slugs when it comes to longer range shots. I tend not to shoot beyond 40 yards, but with these slugs, I'm confident at that range and slightly beyond with the right holdover.

I just wanted to extend a thank you for the complimentary slugs and to give you guys a little bit of good feedback on a great product you have created. I will be using your slugs in my Phox for the foreseeable future as my projectile of choice. I have recently applied for my FAC, so perhaps the heavier slugs will be suitable for the next rifle i get and give me great results as well.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Message: I purchase some of your 17.8gr slugs some time ago for ratting and they worked very well in my AA410 with sub 10mm groups. Today I was fitting a moderator to my old HW35. I checked zero with the usual 14gr pellet it seemed to like. Then out of curiosity I tried a Prohunter slug. It hit the same point as the 14gr pellets subsequent slugs showed a group of less than 10mm at 18 metres. I got the impression that terminal velocity was also much better. Very surprising results with HW35. However, I now have a pellet I can use with both rifles. Do you have a BC for these pellets?

I forgot to mention that the Weihrauch HW35 is only at 10 fpd. That is about the best that design will do but will easily deal with rat at 20 yards especially with your pellets. I don’t know why I did’nt try them before. I just assumed it would not have enough power.

Yes of course you can use my feedback. I have tried others but the quality is just not good enough.

Hi Yvonne,

Two groups shot at 24 yds with your 10.5gn .177 slugs. On the left is a 5 shot group. I know 24 yds isn’t extreme but it is the furthest I can get in our garden. Really pleased and impressed with the slugs; currently using up the 13gn slugs on squirrels and they are devastating. I will definitely be ordering more from you!

If you wish to use the picture on your site please feel free to do so.

To give you background, I happen to be in the proverbial backyard of American Competition Air Rifle Shooting--Colorado. Colorado is the proud home of the US Olympic Committee as well as the headquarters of the US Olympic Training Facility. We host athletes from all over the world, and I've even had the privilege of meeting the US Olympic 10 Meter Air Rifle Team. Suffice it to say, Colorado takes its air rifles seriously.

Of course, so does Britain. It is no accident that I am the proud owner of 4 British-made Daystate Red Wolf air rifles in .177, .22, .25, and .30 calibers. I wanted only the best and I scoured the globe for ammunition worthy of these magnificent machines. Through various outlets online, I was tickled pink when I learned of Pro Hunter Swaging UK.

To me, it meant the world to learn of the existence of a boutique family-owned shop still versed in the ways of handcrafted metallurgy. In a post-Industrial digital era, it warmed my heart to know that there were holdouts still honoring their craft and hand-swaging air rifle ammunition. Based on your sterling reputation, I placed my first order and I have been a happy shooter ever since. Your ammunition flies true and its consistency never wavers even during the gusting winds we experience in Colorado's alpine snowstorms. As I've relayed in prior correspondence, there is a subjective sound that these slugs make when they connect with their intended target--it is a satisfying thud that cannot be reproduced by any other ammunition!

I want you to know that your customer service is second to none. Even though we have not met in person, I feel that I have partners across the Atlantic. It makes me happy to share a love of such a fun sport. Here's 4 photos for your consumption:

1) 25-yard 10-shot group right out of the plastic zip pouch, knowing that the 3 o'clock flyer and pair of 10 o'clock flyers were my fault with scope error :)

2) Brand new steel targets for testing your slugs (unblemished out of the box)

3) 25-yard accuracy on a steel gopher; I became more confident and placed 3 shots on the paw

4) 25-yard accuracy on a steel Jax; I grew more intrepid and "walked" 3 shots on the steel upright beam below the circle

PPS If you post this feedback online anywhere, then please redact out my name as I'd like to keep my air rifle spending to myself--thank you!

Good morning Graham,

Feel free to use my comments in feedback.

Out last night on a farm with a serious rat problem, but the rats are very cagey about showing themselves. All you end up seeing is a pair of eyes in amongst the piles of wood, as they don't come out I shoot into the gaps in the wood pile to take them out.

Although it might seem an expensive use of slugs the accuracy means I can take shots that I can't achieve with pellets.

one hole groups at 30m, when I say one hole it's not a ragged hole, it's a single hole.

Regards ******

Dear Graham/Yvonne

Thanks for the excellent service. Result's so far:

Air Arms S400 regulated HFT @ 600.6 fps 10.4 ftlbs - compared to JSB Ultra heavy's - see photo. Not the ideal medium to shoot into ( large Tooling catalogue ) but very respectable all the same - expanded to over 9mm !! Heavies 11.78 ftlbs !! (the pellet on the left) Residual weight = 12.7 gn - superb. Next: group testing

All the best

Thanks Graham.

Been getting on great with the 177's so far. As has a friend of mine who you will be hearing from very soon!!

They shoot well out of the fx wildcat mk3.

Have yet to try .22 through other fx. Your product speaks for its self well.

Received the 13 grn standard slugs today thank you..

So i got out and shot them this afternoon in cold but calm conditions in my usual location out to 70 yds .

My gun was set a touch lower than last time at 800 - 810 fps (19 fpe ) area . I did a barrel clean this time and group size was a bit better groups at 40 yds (zero ) were blisteringly good (8 mm c/c) 50 - 60 - 70 yds increased in dispersion but generally held onto around 1.25 inch at 70 yds (the cold weather started to effect poi as it dropped into evening )

So, so far I'm pleased that this tune seams to be working as far as accuracy .

Now I zeroed the gun at 40 yds and had targets at 10 yd intervals to test trajectory .and it seemed to confirm (with my reticle and drop ) that the bc is around 0.07 for these slugs .

Which is excellent .

I did one other test before the light failed this eve.and that was my expansion test .

I use 2 packs of raw bacon which provides 2 inches of flesh to shoot through. I have a pellet catcher behind the bacon )which imparts no effect on the pellet /slug in terms of deformation . So any expansion of the slug seen is imparted by the bacon .

I shot 1 slug at 20 yds and 1 at 70 yds .i also shot a jsb exact 8.44 grn at 965 (17.5 fpe ) at these ranges for comparison .the images below tell the story and im hugely impressed that this expansion took place over such a short distance .

From 4.5 mm to 7 mm in 2 inches is very impressive .

My next job is to record the exit velocities of these slugs and pellets to calculate energy transfer and also to confirm bc over my chronos .

 Regards ****** .

Hi Graham

I burned through most of them yesterday, in summary (with practice ) they will all do Sub MOA at 100y, Looking at the 60g and 53G there are overlapping holes at 100Ys!!

So I would like to thank you for developing such a fantastic Slug range – you should be very proud.

Video failed – Battery only lasted a 2 minutes!

Anyway these are the results I got on Paper all zeroed at 50y (to jsb 44.75)

50g 865fps 100y group 4 shot 27mm +2.5 Mrad

60g 800fps 100y group 4 shot 25mm +3.5 Mrad (same evelation as JSB 44.75!)

53g 823fps 100y group 3 shot 25mm +3 Mrad

58g 790fps 100y group 3 shot 20mm +3.5 Mrad

I handled about 100 slugs and didn’t get dirty fingers – so I am very impressed at how clean you supply them

100y Performance was stellar and I will use the rest at 200+ ( on paper) – today while there is still no wind!

Compared to JSB 44.75 the slugs land ½ Mrad to the left, or the JSBS land ½ mrad to the right – either way it doesn’t matter

On my 100y cards I adjusted for this only on the 53g and 60G – and I even hit the 15mm bullseye eye on the 100y 60G card!

Many thanks again- I now have the dliema of which batch to order next –

Hi Graham/Yvonne

Very much appreciated thank you! I did some testing last Wednesday with the sample pack you sent. In Hertfordshire it was VERY windy. I achieved a 5” group at 86m which with 177 in gusting wind I think is more than acceptable.

What speeds do you recommend for the 13, 15 and 18gr slug? I’m using my Fx impact with the smooth twist x barrel.

I will be testing more over the next few days whilst the weather is calm. I will provide more feedback!

Hi graham.

Thanks for giving me the sample slugs of .177 to try , very much appreciated.

I tested them this afternoon ( 25 yards) in some very windy conditions ( again!) And found that the 15g slugs grouped similar as the 13g but with more loss of power ( 8.5ftlbs) and the 18g slugs grouped at about 1 inch at 25 yards.

So for me the 13g slugs are definatly the winners , obviously in a more powerful .177 rifle the other two would perform much better but these are the ones for my sub 12ftlb.

Please find attached some images.

Kind regards and thanks again

Hi graham

Thought i would drop you a line again and let you know that i got on ok with the 38 grain .25 slug sample , i managed to get what i thought was some decent groups with them today at 100 yards with a averege muzzle velocity of 859fps , the standard variation was a bit higher than the other prohunter slugs i have used from you but i am very happy with the results.
Thanks again and i look forward to purchasing some more.

Kind regards

Message ;  good morning Graham

I managed to get out early this morning and get you some photos of my groups from both the 30g and 32g slugs at 100 yards,, I did try some other slugs from varmint knockers ( 32g,34g) but they wasn't a patch on your slugs, yours simply are the best ones I have tried all sorts, all with the same set of test parameters and yours group the best by far, the last four slugs of the day grouped the best ( two through the same hole)also I noticed better consistency with a small amount of napier pellet lube and for some reason my redwolf shoots them better after a full charge( 250 bar), I don't know the reason why when daystate say its electronically regulated with its mtc technology but whatever, congratulations on making excellent ammunition.

daystate redwolf hp .25 50ftlbs
prohunter 30g 837 fps
prohunter 32g 808 fps

thanks again and I will look to be placing a order for both 30g and 32g soon.

Hello graham.

I hope you are well and keeping healthy.

Late last week i finally managed to complete my big slug test , i had your .25 sample slugs in 30g, 32 g and 38g along with various samples from different manufactures in different weights ( H&N, inferno slugs and nielson ) all which shot well at 50 yards but i must say that your slugs shot the best at 100yards , all 5 shot groups were around 1 inch ( some a little bigger no thanks to me ) but all were very good, so now as i have ran out of prohunter slugs and this lockdown for the corona virus has hit us , all i can do in the meantime is dream about pushing the ranges out.

Kind regards and many thanks for the sample slugs.

Hi graham.Sorry to be so vague in my first email ! I was to excited that i finally found slugs that actually work ..

I use a daystate redwolf in .25 with a muzzle energy of 50ftlbs

30g slugs = 837 fps
32g slugs= 808fps
38g slugs= 745 fps

I found that the 30g slugs grouped the best out of the three but i would like to try again, and on different power settings instead of the high power setting i used on the redwolf.

"Hello Graham, I have tested the slugs you sent today. Things went really well with them shooting at 910fps after tinkering.
All under a 5p piece from 25 meters upto 60meters. I have attached some photos of group sizes. They were fairly loose in the magazine, I have the original FX mag and also there new high capacity one which is designed too fit slugs. They wouldn't load without force and sometimes wouldn't at all so I used a single shot loader which was perfect. I will try again at a higher speed which I think will be much better.
All in all I think the results are pretty good.
I can definitely tighten them groups up and will certainly be trying 100 meters and more, my jsb mk2 34grs group lovely at 100 and more so the slugs should be much better. "

Message: Just some quick feedback from my initial testing. Using 22.8g .22 slugs. Airwolf FAC with no upgrades. Easily zeroed at 40yards. And as accurate as JSB heavy at this distance, if not more so. BC seemed a bit low, so tried Napier pellet lube. Wow. BC increased, I am getting 0.075. Point of impact was higher with lube, no windage effect. Dialled in up to 50 yards and down to 25 yards and was slug on slug. Gun seemed better when at the upper end of fill pressure. Was achieving 830fps at barrel and 771fps at 40 yards. Just ordered another 100 for testing in a field.

Message: Some feedback on your .25 slugs. I tested these with a 50 ft lb (nominal) rapid mk2 with standard 24" LW barrel at 20 yards & at 110 yards. It appears that they group similarly (5 rounds @ 9 mm ctc) to the guns preferred pellets (JSB King heavy) at short distance. Sadly I didn't get any quantitative evidence, as I was at a club shoot at Bisley, but at long range the grouping was slightly better than the JSB pellet, and with several MOA less drop. In terms of chrono testing, these measured 820 -840 fps at the muzzle (as compared to 830 - 850 fps for a 31 gr Barracuda), so the energy loss due to increased friction is minimal. I also "soft captured" one fired into a pile of sand. Expansion of the hollow portion was significant (approx. double the cal) especially when compared to JSB or H&N Grizzly, which don't tend to expand much at all when fired into sand. What strikes me about your slugs is that they appear to be similar in design to the new FX hybrid, in that you have created a **************. I think you are onto something with this, as I believe that in conjunction with using pure Lead, this helps with minimising friction and allowing the pellet to deform to the barrel choke, as well as stabilisation out of standard pellet barrels i.e. no need for a slug barrel. What I would be interested in seeing in the future is a lighter version in .25, so that muzzle velocities of ~ 950 fps can be more easily achieved.

Best regards,
                                  ------------------------------

Messgae: ok .. so had some results .. put no data in to any of my apps .. after watching your vids expected higher bc .. started at 100 was hitting high about 2 moa .. now heres the thing started on 10x ,my jsb mk2s at 33grain hit the shoot and see targets and knock a lovely bright yellow hole .

it took me 6 shoots and a walk to find out they punch perfect clean holes thru no bright yellow hole ... like a laser .. seams my barrel likes them but I need to readjust my ballistic calculations

I will revert back to you again shortly with more detail of the shots and photos of the groups .. took me more shots then I wanted to relise I was actually hitting the target ,just they was cutting through so cleanly you couldnt see this is at 100 meters not yards.. I'll grab some more shortly today start hoarding a few so I can really do some serious testing .. but as of the moment really happy with presentation.. uniformity of the pellets ( I weigh and size them ). mid flight stability is bar none I have some slow motion footage and am really impressed .

thanks again  .25  30gn
